The Balinese practice Balinese Hinduism – a mixing of Buddhism, Hinduism and Animism. They believe that the spirit of the gods is present in all things, from everyday objects to nature. Good spirits dwell in the mountains, while sea spirits are demons and ogres. In the daily Balinese ceremonies and rituals, offerings are carried on the head in hand painted/hand woven rice baskets, “keben.”
